2007 book harvest / 23.12.2007
In this year we designed a number of books. The last one is the correspondence between former Czech president Václav Havel and his friend, František Janouch, from 1978—2001. The harvest includes books produced by Akropolis, Pražská scéna, Sociologické nakladatelství, Casablanca and XYZ.

Symbols of the Republic / 27.11.2007
Exhibition catalogues designed by Filip Blažek. The main visual element is the gradient containing the Czech national colours. The typography, based on the geometrical typeface Purista by Suitcase Type Foundry, creates a counterpart to the heraldic illustrations inside the booklets. Teimer Antiqua was used for all texts.

…příští vlna/next wave… Festival / 10.10.2007
Posters for the 14th festival of alternative culture flooded the streets of Prague and advertising space in trams. The design is inspired by the aesthetic of commercial flyers distributed by Czech shopping malls to our homes: Garish colours, gradients, shadows and a warm commercial sun with rays of bar codes shining on dancers with shopping bags. Zeixs Logo & Graphic Design / 25.9.2007
Three works by our designers were published in two books published by Germany’s Feierabend Unique Books. Their project, Zeixs, consists of four 700-page books on logotypes, illustrations, graphic design and typography.

Juggling / 12.7.2007
A poster for a juggling festival in Prague designed by Zdeněk Franc. Freely inspired from last year’s poster, also designed using the Atrament typeface.

Vienna: Directions for use / 23.6.2007
An essay by Monika Czernin published by Akropolis was designed by Filip Blažek. Garamond Premium is used for the text. Photos: Juliane Pezold.

Little Girl Blue / 10.5.2007
In the streets of Prague and in cinemas you may see a poster for the new Czech film named Little Girl Blue (Tajnosti) directed by Alice Nellis. The poster, opening & closing credits and other visuals were designed by Honza Dobeš. The website, www.ceskatelevize.cz/specialy/tajnosti, was designed together with Zdeněk Franc.

Award Ceremony / 25.4.2007
Publisher Filip Tomáš (Akropolis) expresses his thanks for one of the awards he received in the competition The Most Beautiful Czech Books of the Year 2006. The book Czech for Life designed by Filip Blažek took second place in the schoolbook category.

Good designers are never abundant / 20.4.2007
Today, Czech daily Právo published an interview with Filip Blažek about the career of a graphic designer. The interview was a part of a supplement dedicated to Czech design schools.

ED Awards / 27.3.2007
Filip Blažek was a member of the ED Awards Jury, a new European graphic design contest. The members of the jury came from eleven European design magazines. Awarded designers will be announced on the 11th of May during the ED Awards ceremony in Athens, Greece.

Trends in current graphic design / 3.3.2007
At the end of February, Filip Blažek gave a speech about the design of Czech media. The lecture was organized by the Department of Journalism at The Faculty Of Philosophy of The Catholic University in Ružomberok, Slovakia. The poster was designed by Winney.

The Secret Life of Logos / 22.2.2007
Our logotypes Belmond and D-dur were chosen for the book The Secret Life of Logos — Behind the Scenes with Top Designers. The book reveals the stories and secrets behind featured logotypes. Written by typographer and designer Leslie Cabarga, published by How Books, Ohio in 2007.

The Most Beautiful Czech Books / 14.2.2007
Handbook of Czech conversation entitled Czech For Life has received the second prize in the textbook category in the Most Beautiful Czech Book of 2006 contest. The book designed by Filip Blažek and illustrated by Pavlína Řezníčková was published by the Akropolis publishing house.

In the name of Bohemia / 16.1.2007
Anthology of essays dedicated to Professor Lenka Bobková. Designed by Honza Dobeš. Published by Casablanca at the end of 2006.

Typexeso Game / 2.1.2007
Happy New Year! For our friends and clients, we printed a typographic game Typexeso. Every envelope contains 32 randomly chosen pairs of playing cards with glyphs from Constantia typeface. Printed on Canevas bicolor paper. Typexeso may be ordered online.
