Where is my home? at Kupé / 10.12.2008
Filip Blažek and Honza Dobeš at the Kupé 4 conference in Žilina, Slovakia. The main theme of the event was Nation — Design — State. Filip and Honza introduced book project Where is my home? focused on the Czech national anthem, and discussed questions of government commissions, visual presentation of the Czech Republic, or how to improve graphic design of Czech institutions. Building Letters exhibited / 10.10.2008
The charity magazine Building Letters Three was on display in the Brno Biennale graphic design exhibition. The project raises money to help victims of Asian tsunami in 2004. More in our portfolio or at www.buildingletters.org.



Where is my home III / 23.9.2008
Our book with a glass cover finally came into existence! We have successfully finished the most challenging project that our studio worked on so far. We would like to thank all of you, who cooperated on the production of the book; especially the ones who were willing to try extraordinary techniques, and keep short delivery dates. Where is my home II / 11.9.2008
The first sheets of the book about Czech national anthem are being printed in Typodesign printer shop in České Budějovice. The book will be published on the ocassion of an introduction of a new record of national anthem. The book will be introduced during a gala evening in the National Museum, Prague, on September 28, 2008.



Where is my home I / 28.8.2008
We work on a unique book about Czech national anthem with cover made of glass. Honza Dobeš visited glass designer Zdeněk Lhotský in his factory to check the first samples. The publication will be published by The Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, National Theatre, National Museum, and Czech Radio.

The first printed computer illustration by Filip Blažek was published in the magazine Children and Us in 1987. The image of computer was drawn probably in geoPaint on Commodore 64. The illustration was a part of a text by Bohuslav Blažek analyzing the possible advantages of computers for children education.



Zdenda got married / 25.7.2008
Zdeněk and Radka got married on Saturday, July 12, in Piletice near the city of Hradec Králové. The ceremony, lunch and party took place in Šrámek farmhouse. Congratulation! We wish you a safe journey back from your honeymoon trip!



27 designers for Europe / 3.7.2008
A poster designed by Filip Blažek represents the Czech Republic at an exhibition initiated by Philippe Apeloig, that takes place at the airports of Paris. Posters (4 by 3 meters in size) were created by designers from all countries of the European Union. The main theme was “Walk” and the use of two European colors was requested. The exhibition was opened on July 1, 2008 by French minister of culture, Ms. Christine Albanel. Check the details of the poster in our PDF archive and photos in the portfolio.



Some of us / 22.6.2008
The second exhibition about victims of communist regime Some Of Us was opened on June 2 in Prague. Honza Dobeš designed for the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic fourty exhibition panels and a book tracing the destiny of the people affected by the communist regime in former Czechoslovakia. The exhibition was opened by Czech PM Mirek Topolánek.



European Design Awards / 2.6.2008
Filip Blažek – a jury member of the ED Awards contest – announces winners of one of the categories during the ceremony in Stockholm. The jury is composed of representatives from communication design magazines from across Europe. The awards and merits of this European design contest were declared on June 18 in Södra Teatern, Stockholm, at the end of a three-day ED Conference. Photo Kyung Hye Lee.



Esprit magazine / 24.5.2008
Redesign of a magazine (not only) about the mental health. Pages of Esprit are more lucid and more attractive for the readers. Text typeface RePublic is complemented by distinctive sans serif headline font inspired by calligraphy. The cover is printed full color, inside pages are printed using black and orange spot color.



Kerio Redesign / 22.4.2008
We designed new corporate design manual for Kerio company. We unified the typography of stationeries, changed the primary and secondary color palettes and chose new corporate typeface family. We designed new product logotypes. Due to an expansion of Kerio to many countries, the manual reflects the diversity of preferred paper or envelope sizes and local style of writting phone numbers.

Destiny of our Neighbors / 14.3.2008
An exhibition project by NGO Post Bellum and Metropolitan District Prague 6. We’ve designed exhibition panels, posters, invitation cards and a book of portraits of victims of the communist regime living in the area of Prague 6.
