Where is my home? at Kupé / 10.12.2008
Filip Blažek and Honza Dobeš at the Kupé 4 conference in Žilina, Slovakia. The main topic  of the event was Nation — Design — State. Filip and Honza introduced the book project “Where is my home?”, named after the Czech national anthem, and discussed issues ranging from government commissions, the visual presentation of the Czech Republic and how to improve graphic design at Czech institutions. Building Letters exhibition / 10.10.2008
The charity magazine Building Letters Three was on display at the Brno Biennale graphic design exhibition. The project raises money to help the victims of the 2004 tsunami. For more information see our portfolio or visit www.buildingletters.org.



Where is my home III / 23.9.2008
Our glass-cover book is finally born! We have successfully finished the most challenging project our studio has worked on thus far. We would like to thank all of you who contributed to the creation of the book, especially those who were willing to try extraordinary techniques and stick to tight deadlines. Where is my home II / 11.9.2008
The first sheets of our book about the Czech national anthem are being printed at Typodesign in České Budějovice. The book will be published to commemorate the release of a new recording of the national anthem. The book will make its debut at a gala evening held at the National Museum in Prague on 28 September 2008 (Czech Statehood Day).



Where is my home I / 28.8.2008
We are hard at work on a unique book about the Czech national anthem featuring a cover made of glass. Honza Dobeš visited glass designer Zdeněk Lhotský at his studio to check the first samples. The book will be published by the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, National Theatre, National Museum and Czech Radio.



21 years ago… / 15.8.2008
For the first time, a computer illustration created by Filip Blažek made it to print. Dětí a my (“Children and Us”) ran the image, which was probably drawn in geoPaint on a Commodore 64, in 1987. The illustration was included in an article by Bohuslav Blažek analyzing the possible benefits of computers in children’s education.



Zdenda got married / 25.7.2008
Zdeněk and Radka got married on Saturday, July 12, in Piletice, a small village near Hradec Králové. The ceremony, luncheon and party took place at the Šrámek farmhouse. Congratulations! We wish you a safe journey back from your honeymoon!



27 designers for Europe / 3.7.2008
A poster designed by Filip Blažek represents the Czech Republic at an exhibition initiated by Philippe Apeloig taking place at Paris’ airports. The posters (4 by 3 meters) were created by designers from all countries of the European Union. The main theme was “Walk”, and it was mandatory to use the colours of the European flag. Some of us / 22.6.2008
The second exhibition about victims of the communist regime, Some Of Us, opened on 2 June in Prague. Honza Dobeš designed forty exhibition panels and a book tracing the fates of people affected by the communist regime in the former Czechoslovakia for the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic. The exhibition was opened by Czech PM Mirek Topolánek.



European Design Awards / 2.6.2008
Filip Blažek, a jury member of the ED Awards contest, announces the winners of one of the categories during the ceremony in Stockholm. The jury is composed of representatives from communication design magazines from across Europe. The awards and merits of this European design contest were declared on 18 June in Södra Teatern, Stockholm, at the end of the three-day ED Conference. Photo: Kyung Hye Lee.



Esprit magazine / 24.5.2008
The redesign of a magazine (not only) about mental health. The pages of Esprit are more lucid and more attractive for readers. The text typeface, RePublic, is complemented by a distinctive, calligraphy-inspired sans serif headline font. The cover is printed in full colour, while the inside pages are black and white featuring orange spot colour.



Kerio Redesign / 22.4.2008
We designed a new corporate design manual for the software company Kerio. The typography used on stationery was unified, primary and secondary colour palettes changed and a new corporate typeface family chosen. We also designed new product logotypes. Due to Kerio’s multinational presence, the manual reflects local habits and customs (preferred paper and envelope sizes, ways of writing phone numbers etc.).

Destiny of our Neighbours / 14.3.2008
An exhibition project by the non-governmental organisation Post Bellum and the Metropolitan District of Prague 6. We designed exhibition panels, posters, invitations and a book featuring portraits of the victims of the communist regime living in Prague 6.
